Abstract

This document outlines research plans to investigate the evolution of a set of FLOSS (Free, Libre, and Open Source Software) projects and their communities by looking at patterns of developer and user activity through a combination of analysis of archived material and interaction with the project communities. The goal of the proposed research is to better understand the dynamics within FLOSS projects and how some projects become successful.
